PRIVATE ESTATE MARQUEE WEDDING : BECCY & FABIAN : THE WEDDING DAY

FEATURED ON COCO WEDDING VENUES

Beccy & Fabians’ weekend wedding was set at Rebecca’s parent’s private estate in Solihull. Across 3-days we curated an authentic, memorable, and inimitable occasion designing 3 events throughout the beautiful house and grounds.

There is something so sentimental about hosting a wedding at home in a space steeped in a wealth of emotional memories, and it was always Beccy’s dream to host her wedding where she grew up. They got in touch with us as they recognised the intricacies and challenges of transforming a residence into an event venue and wanted to work with someone whom they could trust to execute and elevate their event visions and aid in curating an epic party. Collaborating with Beccy and Fabian was a truly exciting journey, Beccy has amazing style and a keen eye for the details, and witnessing our creative process evolve into reality was so fulfilling!

In terms of logistics we built the 3 pole Sperry marquee on top of the tennis court which is a perfect pre-flattened base, the wooden flooring of the marquee was also raised in case of pooling water and the site was big enough to house the catering tent adjacent to the main marque structure too. Tennis court floors aren’t particularly visually attractive so we ensured the outer border of the marquee was covered in gravel and potted plants enabling the flow from garden to structure to be seamless.

The house, centrally positioned within the grounds, was encircled by a picturesque moat. A foot-bridge connected the church where the couple hosted their ceremony to the rear garden, while a bridge at the front of the house provided access from the main road (this also had to be measured in advance to ensure deliveries could gain access easily!). By designating the front of the house as a supplier area, we ensured that guests were free from any disruption from back-of-house operations, including generators, storage tents, and fridge vans.

Our wedding design process is patient and creative and as I got to know Beccy and Fabian more and more we began to weave personal details through every element of their wedding plans. Our groom used to be involved in the bar industry before settling into music so he loved the idea of creating an immersive and fun atmosphere of entertainment and mixology. Following dessert we had a cocktail hour where guests were surprised by an unexpected delight: The Brigade Roaming Band burst into the space, performing the bride's sister's newly released song, then kept guests dancing by taking requests from table to table.

The bar structure was the core of the marquee, we covered it in a huge floral installation by Sassflower entwined around hanging lanterns and scattered with Costa Rican-coloured flowers (Costa Rica being where Beccy said yes!). We also built a bespoke 3-meter-wide circular podium in the middle of the dance floor, providing an exclusive space for guests to dance alongside our roaming singers and saxophonist. This also doubled up as a stage for the first dance and champagne tower earlier in the evening too!

The hints of rattan and fringing throughout the design represented their love for sun-drenched days at beach clubs in destinations around the world, we also added pockets of lounge furniture with fringed parasols, deckchairs and wicker sofas for guests to relax on by the bar. On the tables we layered textured rattan chargers with terracotta pink napkins, oat linen tablecloths, burnt orange water glasses, bubblegum pink water jugs and coral red candles. Guests found their seats via a drinks coaster name card with a personalised poem written by the bride and groom on the reverse side to read.

Food was also hugely important to them. Alongside Doggart and Squash we created a bespoke menu with each individual dish representing a memorable meal; Seabass Ceviche as it reminded them of their engagement, and fillet of Beef with chimichurri as it was the dish they ate on their first date and they finished the wedding breakfast with their favourite dessert Lemon Mirange Pie, as it reminds them of their favourite holiday.

On the actual wedding, describing the weather as inclement would be an understatement. In the days leading up to the event, this was a concern shared by the entire family. Fortunately, our well-prepared Plan B involving an abundance of umbrellas and utilizing indoor space for the drinks reception ensured the guests stayed comfortably dry. Surprisingly, the couple even expressed that the rain turned out to be a blessing in disguise, we managed an epic classic car confetti shot which wasn’t originally planned, and they loved that the wet weather kept their cherished guests together inside the marquee throughout the celebration which made for an even better party!

WE DON’T KNOW WHAT WE WOULD HAVE DONE WITHOUT YOU!

“A somewhat belated note to thank you for the absolutely brilliant job you did with Rebecca & Fabian’s wedding. We were particularly impressed and especially appreciative of your calm, professional, and measured approach to the day itself when just about every challenge that could have been thrown at you was (including the weather!). We really don’t know what we would’ve done without you so thank you!”
