Keythorpe Hall is a magnificent English country house proudly anchored in sustainability, offering not only a breathtaking setting, but also an exquisite gastronomic journey. It stands as an ideal private hideaway, exclusively yours for a wedding weekend or any multi-day celebration.
Last spring, the owners Barbara and Giles entrusted our expertise as a luxury wedding planner to showcase their stunning venue, impeccable services, and deeply ingrained philosophies.We wanted to create an event where the essence of Keythorpe Hall came alive, inviting guests to immerse themselves in the allure of this remarkable space, where sustainability meets sophistication and every detail is an ode to timeless elegance with a hint of couture fashion.
During the multi-year restoration of the house and gardens, as well as unlocking a forgotten history Barbera and Giles have cleverly injected huge amounts of vibrancy and colour into the Victorian home. I wanted to emulate and elevate that colour throughout the design by beginning with a huge wow statement to seek the attention of guests. Alongside Kim from Dreamboats & Carousels, we erected a wild arch adorned with tumbling organic foliage and bursting with vibrant, organic British-grown florals. Drawing inspiration from the opulent colour palette of Maison Valentino's spring/summer haute couture collection and the rich hues woven throughout the property, this awe-inspiring display set the stage for a celebration that mirrored the beauty and vivacity found in every corner of Keythorpe Hall. It was a grand entrance, a testament to the restoration's success, and a preview to the kaleidoscope of experience and colour awaiting within the walls of this Victorian gem.
The most significant challenge in the event design process lay in harmonizing my own creative visions with the unpredictable nature of home-grown blooms (especially when as luxury wedding planners being in control is paramount!). Our commitment to exclusively using British florals cultivated in Keythorpe's walled gardens meant that we had limited awareness of our available resources until just days before the event. It presented a logistical challenge that, in the end, proved to be remarkably rewarding. It transformed the process into a dynamic and spontaneous collaboration and added an extra layer of authenticity to the event, capturing the essence of nature's spontaneity and infusing the celebration with a touch of organic beauty.
Food, for us, takes centre stage in all the events and weddings we produce. We wanted to create a gastronomic experience that was both exciting and delicious, yet modern and sustainable. All fruit and vegetables are picked from the walled garden on-site, wild herbs and plants foraged from their woodlands, and meat, dairy and fish are sourced from surrounding farms and artisan producers celebrating ingredients in their prime. Along with head chef Brent Varming, we created dishes where each one was a culinary masterpiece that reflected both innovation and a commitment to sustainability. We complimented each dish with wine hand-picked by Keythorpe’s in-house sommelier Burt Blaize.
From the grand entrance under the wild arch to the dynamic collaboration with nature for our floral arrangements, and the culinary masterpieces crafted by Chef Brent Varming, every element reflected the essence of Keythorpe Hall—where sustainability meets sophistication, and timeless elegance intertwines with a hint of couture fashion.
As a luxury wedding planner, we anticipate more chapters in the Keythorpe Hall story, each one an exploration of the boundless possibilities that this exceptional venue offers (and we have so many more ideas!)—a canvas for unforgettable moments, where every detail is an ode to the beauty that surrounds us when there.
