AN INTIMATE WEDDING IN TUSCANY, ITALY: THE WEDDING DAY

Photography By Wilken Weddings

Iona & Will’s intimate multi-day destination wedding took place at Il Borgo di Vignamaggio. A historic estate in Tuscany, Italy, where timeless Italian elegance meets understated contemporary luxury. Available for exclusive hire, the Italian wedding venue offers a collection of beautifully restored spaces, from charming courtyards and cypress-lined terraces to its iconic Piazza, Pool and afterparty club.

The couple contacted us to be their destination wedding planners as they wanted an intimate wedding in Italy with an unparalleled guest experience. They wanted someone who would take care of their guests from arrival to departure, whilst planning with the utmost professionalism and discretion.

Guests arrived in the late afternoon at The Pergola for the wedding ceremony. A triple floral arch inspired by the architecture of Clare Bridge in Cambridge, England, where they met for the first time. This meaningful backdrop is where they then met to say vows that bound them together for life.

Iona walked down the aisle to a string quartet, and the couple were married by the incredible celebrant Nat Raybould.

Iona went to the bridal designer extraordinaire Emma Beaumont for her 2 bespoke wedding dresses. Her wedding day dress was a figure-hugging lace gown with a sweeping train and sultry slit encrusted in subtle sparkling sequins.

Her evening dress was a fun, sheer lace and sequin mini with long sleeves and a backless design. Easy to dance in and still incredibly elegant.

At the end of the ceremony, guests were guided to the Frutteto Gardens by a 4-piece roaming band. Aside from the stunning views, this is where they could mingle, relax, and indulge in the atmosphere... and with unlimited Aperol & Limoncello spritz!

Guests dined on La Piazza surrounded by 360-degree views of the Italian Tuscan countryside. Two long tables were set for a 4-course Italian feast, designed with a nod to their tour of Greece where the bride said yes, were overflowing with blousy blooms whilst flickering candles lined the centre.

Embracing the change in seasons the colour scheme seamlessly bridged the gap between summer brights and richer autumnal tones whilst perfectly contrasting with terracotta masterpiece that is Il Borgo Di Vignamaggio.

It really is true that the best times in life are when surrounded by our loved ones, eating delicious food, drinking fine wine and listening to music we love.

After dark, guests moved downstairs into Vignamaggio’s terracotta club room, led by LDN Roams and greeted with espresso martinis.

Being a more intimate wedding, we enclosed the dancefloor to add to the atmosphere by draping the end of the space off and bringing the ceiling down with glittering disco balls.

An 8-piece band took centre stage and blew guests’ socks off until the early hours of the morning.
