9 ESSENTIAL LUXURY WEDDING PLANNING TOOLS & RESOURCES
UK WEDDING PLANNING ADVICE BY EMILY 30TH SEPTEMBER 2021
These are my top wedding planning resources and tools that as a professional UK wedding planner I use alongside my own clients to help organise, plan and design their wedding day!
Planning such an intricate event as a wedding is not a simple task, especially if you're not a professional wedding planner! Even if you're wondering how to start your wedding planning journey, or are halfway through the process, these tools are invaluable in aiding your stress levels every step of the way, from wedding design, general organisation, and finding a team of trusted and industry-leading wedding suppliers.
Where A UK Wedding Planners Styling & Design Journey Begins
Pictures say 1000 words, and Pinterest really is the best tool in the business. Before diving in and booking suppliers start pinning wedding ideas onto a board so you can discover a general colour scheme and define your wedding style. Later, you can narrow down your inspiration into sections such as floral design, tablescape, stationery, cakes and desserts etc. When booking your suppliers having this solid vision will really enable any industry expert to elevate your design, and use their professional knowledge to build upon it and produce something that surpasses your expectations.
If you add Pinterest onto your chrome browser as an app you can pin images from everywhere including Instagram, online wedding magazines, and wedding blogs to your board too!
I have done some of the hard work for you on my Pinterest account with boards I have put together showcasing wedding design concepts such as Romantic Minimalism, Contemporary Glamour, An Essence Of Italy, Luxury Marquee, Timeless Elegance, and English Garden Opulence. Also a collection of pins for each element of a wedding from bridal fashion designers to catering inspiration.
A Calendar App No UK Wedding Planner Should Live Without
This is a free calendar app that I literally cannot live without. It enables you to share a calendar between only invited parties who also have the app downloaded on their phones. Planning a wedding can take up to 200-300 hours so being on top of your personal, work and wedding planning schedule is so important. You can add meeting dates, deadlines and wedding planning to do's to the app, and each event you add can be colour-coded, alarmed with a reminder, have a URL, location, and notes attached. My favourite feature is that everyone involved in the calendar gets a notification when an event is added and updated by any party too!
All my clients share this calendar with me and they find the notifications and reminders so helpful, especially as most of them are busy working professionals, time-poor and have a busy social life too
WEDDING PLANNING BLOGS
Wedding Planning Advice & Inspiration
As well as Pinterest, UK and international weddings blogs are an incredible tool to find expert advice that relates to you, and showcases beautiful wedding inspiration. My favourite luxury wedding blogs, (some of which I am proud to say my own work has featured on) are Love My Dress, CoCo & Kat, 100 Layer Cake, Brides, and Carats & Cake. Lots of top UK wedding planners & suppliers have their own wedding planning blogs too, click here to see more of my blog! As we are experts in the industry working with couples every day, you can really find some invaluable advice and wedding design inspiration on these.
WEDDING SUPPLIER DIRECTORIES
Put Together A Team Of Industry Leading Wedding Suppliers
A lot of top blogs will also have their own directories of noted and trusted suppliers. We feature in Love My Dresses Little Black Book, and Save The Date Mags Cream of The Crop. One of my favourite and extensive directories for UK wedding venues is Coco Wedding Venues too.
A Colour Scheme Tool Essential For Wedding Design
Pantone is the language of colour for creatives worldwide. Pantone's colour chart enables you to find the hex for a specific colour and discover new shades. Using their colour picker you can also upload a photo from your Pinterest wedding inspiration board and find the exact colour you have been looking for.
Pantone is also hugely influential in the fashion, interiors and wedding industry in terms of setting and predicting the colour trends for the future. For those fashion-forward weddings planned by style-conscious brides to be Pantone is a must.
The Luxury Day Planner I Couldn't Live Without
My entire luxury wedding planning business is propped up by this day by day planner! For those busy professionals planning a wedding alongside a full-time job, managing your time can become quite overwhelming. It is paramount you stay organised and this planner is the perfect place to start. It has space month by month to set goals, write and organise events in a calendar, track your spending, and write a daily schedule and separate to-do list. The planner itself boasts a beautiful, elegant and stylish design so will look stunning in your handbag, and on those wedding venue site visits!

Build Your Wedding Planning Network
Instagram is an amazing way to create a support network of other engaged couples planning thier wedding. It is the perfect wedding planning tool to help you connect with and get to know UK wedding planners, and immerse yourself within the wedding industry. Instagram is also invaluable in helping you research the plethora of talented suppliers and to seek epic inspiration and planning tips and tricks.
If you have just become enagged and know nothing about the wedding industry or what weddings are really like today. I urge you to get following, start to learn about what you like and dont like, get to know the wedding suppliers you click with and those you don't, and just generally hang around in as many gorgous profiles as you can find. Doing this before rushing into booking anyone or finalising your design is a really good way to cement your wedding vision likes and dislikes, and learn more about how the wedding industry works.
